New FRPN Funding Opportunity

The Fatherhood Research and Practice Network (FRPN) plans to issue up to 12, $10,000 grants to support state planning projects to develop, augment or sustain initiatives to promote father inclusion in policies and practices in state agencies, departments and programs that serve families.

Awards will be made to a single administering agency such as a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, a state or local government agency, a public or private university or a research organization. We will accept applications (one per state) on a rolling basis through December 31, 2018.

Planning groups must include the State Child Support (IV-D) director or his/her designee, a researcher with a focus on fatherhood or family policy and at least one other high-level state official.

This free webinar, jointly sponsored by the National Child Support Enforcement Association and the FRPN, will highlight how states include fathers in programs and policies dealing with families and the critical role that child support agencies play in supporting such fatherhood initiatives and programs. It will feature national information on state programs, funding arrangements and benefits as well as the experiences of child support agencies and programs in several states, including Ohio and South Carolina.

The FRPN will also describe its new funding initiative for $10,000 state planning grants for initiatives to promote father inclusion.

The 12th FRPN learning community webinar presents findings from three FRPN-funded fatherhood studies including:

Qiana Cryer-Coupet, North Carolina State University, "Understanding the Needs of Fathers with Children in Kinship Care: Father, Practitioner and Caregiver Perspectives".
Erin Holmes and Alan Hawkins, Brigham Young University, Caring for their Children: Meta-analysis of Father Education Programs for Nonresident, Unmarried and Low-Income Fathers".
