James serves as president and chief executive officer of the Fathers & Families Coalition of America (FFCA) based in Phoenix, Arizona. Since 1999, he has led the organization to support governmental agencies, community-based organizations, multi-faith based leaders and researchers in the public, nonprofit and private sectors by providing a variety of infrastructure, capacity building and support services.
Created to address the global impact of father absence, FFCA includes an international membership base with executive leadership from more than 50 affiliates in the US as well as Jamaica, Australia, Puerto Rico and Bermuda and other international locations. James has been the catalyst for the development of FFCA’s transformational internationally attended annual conference.
Programs developed by James have accounted for more than $43 million of new grant funds allocated to implement direct services for at-risk youth, low-income individuals, community development and capacity building grants and research projects. In addition, James has served as a principal investigator for national grants awarded through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Office of Refugee & Resettlement and various foundations.
